AIR Celebrates 25 Years @ PRPC

There’s a lot cooking for AIR's collaboration with PRPD at this year’s Public Radio Programming Conference (PRPC) in Atlanta. We’d like to have as many AIRsters on hand as possible. With the next Third Coast Conference slated a stretch away (in fall 2014), it’s a moment for producers to network with one another, get some food for the heart and brain, and meld with station programmers from across the country. This year, we’ll convene an AIR in-person producers meeting for the first time in years, and mark an important rite of passage: the silver anniversary of our organization.

We’ll have stipends available, discounts from PRPD, and other options for supporting travel to the conference.

The dates to bookmark are Sept 17-20. Registration has already opened. We’ll share what we know here, and bring updates to you as they emerge.

AIR MINGLE (Wed, September 18 @ 4 pm/all are welcome!): Emcee Glynn Washington, key note speaker Torey Malatia and other special guests join AIR’s staff and board of directors to take stock of the path AIR has followed -- from that kitchen table on Murray Street in 1988, to the present moment, and the vision of what is ahead.

REGISTRATION/EARLY BIRD by Aug 9:  AIR producers may register at PRPD member rates (@ $495, nearly $300 savings). Go here and choose AIR/Producer from the drop-down menu.

HOTEL: Book before August 23 to secure the group rate of $159/night:

SESSIONS:  Ann Heppermann leads AIR’s “Getting to Yes” pitch panel with editors John Haas/Marketplace, Nancy Mullane/Life of the Law, and David Krasnow/Studio 360 (deadline for pitches: Friday, August 16); Attorney Spencer Weisbroth on music rights; Story First Technology; storytelling across platforms; and building a “go-team.”

AIR AMBASSADORS – Still accepting applications.
We’ll offer a $150 stipend on a first-come-first-served basis to the first 10 AIR members with confirmed conference registrations. In exchange for your stipend, you will be required to do three things: 1) attend the AIR mingle on September 18 at 4 pm; 2) do a shift at the AIR conference table; and 3) post conference reports via Twitter and/or on the AIRdaily detailing your experience and take-aways from the conference. If you’re interested (and registered for the conference), please apply here. We expect high demand! Don’t delay. Questions? Contact Membership Director Erin Mishkin at erin@airmedia.org.

NEW VOICES SCHOLARSHIP 2013 – DEADLINE: Thursday, August 1.
<<<We are no longer accepting applications.>>>
AIR’s New Voices minority scholarships of up to $1500 will support up to a dozen producers and program makers' travel to the conference.
